UCA Wrestling – 4 in a Row!

The Uwharrie Charter Academy Men’s Wrestling team capped off a perfect 36-0 season with its 4th consecutive NCHSAA Dual Team State Championship.  The Eagles have finished 1st or 2nd in the state for 7 consecutive years.  With the win on 2/17/2026, Uwharrie becomes only the third team in North Carolina’s history to record 4 consecutive dual team state championships, and is now tied for 5th place with Orange HS and Fred T Foard HS for the most State Championships in NC.

On Tuesday, the Eagles defeated Pisgah HS 44-28 to capture the 4A NCHSAA State Championship.  Head Coach Hayden Waddell has now won 2 State Championships during his first 2 seasons, and owns a career record of 75-1 as a head coach.  

Senior Lorenzo Alston was selected as the MVP for the NCHSAA 4A Dual Team Championships by the coaches.  He was a perfect 5-0 during the playoffs, with all 5 wins coming by pin.
