New Elementary School Traffic Procedures

UCA Elementary Families,

Over the last few weeks, we have met with our local Department of Transportation officials to discuss the traffic patterns for arrival and dismissal at the elementary school. DOT has made specific recommendations that will improve safety by increasing the number of vehicles staging in our lot, and reducing the number of cars waiting to enter from the road. This will be addressed by adding a safety crosswalk for students while allowing for more double stacking in the parking lot (see DOT photo). Please take care when moving through the staging lot to not block the crosswalks.

In addition, DOT will be installing a right turn only at our main exit (see photo). This will increase the safety of drivers leaving our lot, and also make traffic move more efficiently.

For our families with students also attending the middle or high school, we have included a map that displays the loop to that entrance via Dawson Miller Road. 

DOT plans to have these changes in place by dismissal on Tuesday, August 26th.

We realize these changes will take some time to become routine. However, we appreciate DOT for implementing these safety measures. Please be patient as we all become accustomed to these new procedures.
