About UCA
Founded in 2012, Uwharrie Charter Academy is a tuition-free public charter school located Randolph County, North Carolina. UCA has a project-based, STEAM-focused curriculum and serves students from grades K-12.
Uwharrie Charter Academy provides a truly rigorous pathway to college and career readiness, affords students the benefit of a small learning community with a low teacher to student ratio and promotes strong relationships with students and individualized support.
The UCA curriculum is embedded with STEAM-focused content through problem-based learning, historical developments in technology, hands-on math, and inquiry-based science that requires engineering and ingenuity. UCA Teachers use hands-on, project-based learning in all courses supporting the development of 21st century skills integrating the use of technology. Uwharrie students are given opportunities to build relationships with local institutions in order to provide real-world connections for applied learning.
