Profile Picture A- Nathan Russell

Nathan Russell graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. After two years of freelance writing and working at a kayak retail store, he returned to UNCG to pursue a lateral entry teaching license through the NC Teach program. His teaching career began at Randleman High School where he taught English II, III, IV, and Advanced Theatre Arts.  During these four years, he also served as the assistant coach for the boys and girls soccer team.

Prior to his academic career, Mr. Russell worked for ten years in various capacities within the canoe and kayak industry.  He hopes that he can combine this outdoor recreation knowledge with his classroom experience and support UCA’s commitment to environmental literacy.

In his free time, Mr. Russell enjoys playing competitive soccer and spending time with his wife, 20-month-old daughter, and two dogs.
