Matthew Lopina is Uwharrie Charter's newest visual arts teacher, instructing concentrations in photography, graphic design, and other applied arts. He graduated from Lourdes Academy (Oshkosh, WI) in 1999 and earned his bachelor's degree from Appalachian State University in 2006, majoring in Graphic Design and minoring in photography and African Art history. After running a freelance printing service for five years, Matthew attended UNC-Charlotte, earning his K-12 Art Education state license and graduate certificate. Prior to teaching at Uwharrie Charter Academy, Matthew spent four years facilitating art instruction at McColl Center for Visual Art (Charlotte, NC) and nearly five years as Asheboro High School's only art teacher.
