Whatley, Amanda

Amanda Whatley is a Randolph County native who graduated from Randleman High School in 1994. She attended Appalachian State University, majoring in secondary English education.  She did not immediately move into a teaching career after undergraduate studies, spending 13 years in the healthcare finance industry.  However, her passion for teaching urged her back to school where Dr. Whatley earned her Bachelor's degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, a Master's degree in Reading Education from North Carolina A & T State University, and a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from Gardner-Webb University. She holds NC teaching licenses in both English and Reading and is a National Board Certified Teacher.

Beyond teaching and learning, Dr. Whatley enjoys family shenanigans with her husband, Doyle, and their daughters, Rosa, Niki, Tanner, Madison, and Ella, and their furry, four-legged son, Cody.
